China : Presentation of the water class a public awareness tool to chinese experts 2004 - 2005

The purpose of the project financed by the French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development was to organise an exchange with China in the field of public awareness.

Water Classes for school children were created in May 1987 by the French Seine-Normandy Water Agency, with the objective to ease the decision-making process by giving the public a water culture and allowing his participation in choice-making.

The water class, with its straightforwardness, its adaptability without limits offers nevertheless a new and more comprehensive model which will be adapted in China.

IOWater organised a one-week study tour in France for 5 Chinese experts and a mission to China of 2 French experts to present the principles and the way of carrying out « Water Classes » and other tools to raise public awareness in the water sector, with suitable adaptation to the Chinese context.
