IOWater, partner of Novatech 2019

23/10/2018

From July 1 to 5, 2019 in Lyon will be held the 10th edition of Novatech. Organized by GRAIE, the Metropole de Lyon and INSA Lyon, this international conference on strategies and solutions for sustainable water management in the city welcomes both water and spatial planning stakeholders.

Within the context of an uncertain future due to increasing urban development, along with a changing climate, stormwater management is a major concern, requiring innovative answers, fuelled by the latest research and proof of concept in the field. To create and implement strategies at the catchment scale, to better characterise runoff and wet weather flow, to design and manage alternative solutions to traditional sewer systems and to better plan and integrate them within the urban landscape, to promote stormwater management as a key component of the sustainable city; these are the many challenges which Novatech aims to address.

The programme of Novatech 2019 will be organised around the following principles:

  • 3 conference days from Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 July, with:
  • An opening plenary session with prestigious guests;
  • four concurrent sessions of conferences, allowing for more than 150 oral presentations. The conference programme will be built upon the paper proposals following the call for papers launched in September 2018. A preliminary programme will be available in March 2019.
  • Novatech Awards to enhance public projects and policies integrating stormwater management: the finalists will present their project and strategies on Wednesday 3 July. The winners will be rewarded by the jury on Wednesday evening during a special ceremony.
  • Poster exhibitions are also an integral part of Novatech and interactive workshops will complete the programme.
  • Specialised workshop on Monday 1 July organised by international IWA/IAHR working groups;
  • A day for technical tours on Friday 5 July, enabling delegates to discover remarkable urban planning projects in Lyon and its region, as well as experimental catchment areas of the Field Observatory for Urban Water Management.
